UNT professors are assessing the reliability and validity of the data being collected in Texas schools on the fitness of grade school students.

Internationally known researcher Dr. Yong X. Tao has joined UNT as chair of the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, director of the PACCAR Technology Institute and a professor of engineering.

Larry Austin, an emeritus professor of music who helped bring international attention to UNT's Center for Experimental Music and Intermedia, will be honored in a special 80th birthday concert Sept 12.

Dr. Yuankun Lin, A renowned expert in optical physics, will be a member of UNT's Bio/Nano Photonics Cluster.

Author and commentator Frank Deford will deliver the keynote address at the 2010 BDO USA, LLC Leadership Luncheon, to benefit UNT's Murphy Center for Entrepreneurship. Southwest Airlines founder Herb Kelleher will receive the 2010 Murphy Award
